The Surf Project is a free surf forecasting dashboard built for Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the North Yorkshire coast. It brings together everything a surfer needs before paddling out - a ten-day outlook for wave height, swell period and wind, live tide times, sunrise and sunset, and a real-time beach cam -all on a single, fast page with no login, no paywall and no API keys required.

It's designed for the local surf community: regulars checking the dawn patrol, weekend warriors deciding whether the drive is worth it, bodyboarders, sea swimmers and anyone who reads the ocean before they get in. Wave heights are shown in feet first, the way most UK surfers talk about them, with metres alongside for precision.

The forecast combines open data from Open-Meteo's marine and weather models with tide tables from Yorkshire Tides, extrapolated beyond seven days using the M2 semidiurnal period. The live beach cam is streamed courtesy of Saltburn Surf Shop. Forecasts are predictions - always check conditions before paddling out.
